about

Chameleon starts when young wannabe filmmaker "Jerry" Hartmann comes to Los Angeles and tries to make it big.

This songs refers to that start - the young boy goes to the city, with his innoncence and his lust for life. Excitement.

As it happens through the entire record, l used a lot of sounds to create a sound ambient form where the music emanates. Here there you'll hear bluejays, cicadas, the sound of the wind on the bamboo trees... The sound creators are listed at the end of this entry, along with the credits.

The use of Open-D tuning and a more "folksy" flavour point also to the begginning, to the start, to the origin of something.

lyrics

Jungle, to the jungle
From one city to the next
With my dreams laid before me
Like ripe fruit to be plucked

Future is right now
The city is my skin
Changing, changing colors
A chameleon I'll be

In his repertoire, synthetic ballads that sound like dream landscapes coexist with nervous electric discharges that aim directly to your feet and spit syllables like a rapper. ... more
